The Train departed on time, the trip was nice and the service friendly but we arrive at Bangkok one hour late. I supposed to arrive at 7:25 pm not at 8:20 pm. The Hotel were I supposed to collect my ticket didn't have my ticket, they sent somebody to the station to collect it. I have to wait around 15 minutes, thank god I was early at the station so that extra time didn't affect me. But was really annoy.

Driver kept TV on at MAX volume for HOURS on some stupid Thai show! I had to go there and tell him to switch it off cause people want to sleep! Another thing was the fact that on the bus there wasnt USB ports but SOCKETS! Luckily i had a socket adaptor or I would have burned the damn bus with people inside!!!

We booked well in advance (8-9 weeks) for the sleeper train departing from Chiang Mai. I know that Thai Railways only release the tickets a month before the journey but i would expect that with 12Go's buying power, you should have been able to secure the tickets we requested. You failed to secure the tickets and then offered us tickets for the inferior 5.00pm departure. We didn't really have much choice and accepted this offer. We were also informed by e-mail that because we were catching the earlier train, we were due a 600Baht refund that would be paid in cash upon collection of the tickets. When we collected the tickets, the clerk knew nothing about the refund and did not give us our cash. For us, the issue was that we planned to use the 600Baht to buy snacks/drinks for the journey from the 7/11 opposite the station. Instead, I then had to find an ATM. Overall, considering the commission you charge, I do not feel we received value for money!

It was old train and poorly maintained. No food service in train which one boards at 5 pm..no intimation of the same on tickets etxc

Everything was very good: the vehicle, the seats, the crew, food and drinks, the stops on the road.
One thing was missing though: no WiFi on the bus - which would be of great benefit during a 10 hrs. tour. Comparison: in Cambodia, every "uggly" long distance bus does have WiFi - for free.

The booking process, collection and train trip itself was wonderful. Our carriage had separate womens toilet which meant a great deal to us women.
Departed and arrived on time which was another welcome surprise. My bed was made up for me and I slept like a log. Highly recommend aircon sleeper carriage from Chiang Mai to Bangkok.

I was somewhat stressed because I booked my flight 5 hours after arrival of the train. And we were delayed by an hour. But overall the train, the comfort and personel were great!

Scenery was nice travelling through mountain forests and rice fields.
Rather low speed/time consuming travel.
Train was old and dirty, e.g. seemed like the folding tables at the back of the seats never had been cleaned.
Food was nothing but mediocre.

We traveled with train nr 10 first class sleeper from chiang mai to bangkok. We probably had too high expectations, I was really scared because of the shaking and humping. Did not sleep at all and when we finally came to bangkok the train just stopped , we did not get any information and it took about 1 1/2 hour before we came to the station. The reason was that it had been an accident on the southern line. I was just so happy to get out . The sleeper itself was ok I guess and the toilet was clean.

The good: Bus was on time, seats reclined and had a footrest, a couple of very simple snacks were provided, as was a pillow each. Staff were warm and friendly. There was a stop at a place with nice toilets and the opportunity for people to buy food or snacks if desired. Smooth driving. Decent experience at the good value price-point.
The bad: Bus was actually at Arcade 3 instead of 2 (despite the ticket advice -- seemed like a very common error as the Bus Office for the company was located at Arcade 3 and the lady who redirected us clearly dealt with this often). Sitting in the top story and rear half of the bus near the back smelled like urine due to proximity to the bathroom, and whenever someone opened the compartment that led to it there was a pungent odour. Bathroom wasn't pleasant, but I wasn't expecting much. Thankfully my partner and I relocated to different seats and that was much more comfortable -- definitely sit far away from the toilet if the smell issue is common on other buses. Seats are designed for smaller Thai people, so if you're long legged then be aware of that. :)

The only issue I had on the night sleeper train was the aircon. Being on the top bunk it was so cold even though I was dressed from head to toe, being cold kept me awake but apart from that is was a great experience and the food we ordered was lovely. We paid 100tb each for a coffee which seemed rather excessive as it didnt really taste that great!

Ticket collection was easy, we upgraded both ways to 1st class amid the corona virus outbreak was worth every penny, train does get cold so take appropriate clothing, excellent service from 12go Asia and train staff, would definitely do it again.

This should be on your S/E Asia bucket list. The train chugging through Thailand as if from a Theroux novel. Value for the money is great, as it serves as both mode of transportation as well as hotel room (or bed to sleep in). Entertainment is out the window and the diverse crowd of international travelers you will meet. The box lunches I found to be quite good, honestly. Some have complained the price of 220B is excessive for what you can get at some street vendor in some alley. These boxes are convenient, delivered to your room and of high quality and health standards. What is that like$2? Did not like no alcohol allowed on the train although managed to smuggle some Scotch. The station in Chiang Mai was insufferably hot, no free wifi. There were some decent food choices outside the station ( great khao soi and coconut water). The stall in the station seemed to sell varieties of instant noodles, not gourmet. Some nice architecture. The train was comfortable and on time.It was a $200 B taxi (30 minute ride) to my mediocre hotel but that is a reasonable price. It was worth every baht but could use some modernization.

The bus was good , very comfortable seats and the driving skills was good. My only complaint is that there was no announcement in English to explain that we had stopped for the meal at the restaurant. It took me a while to work out what was going on.

For the foreigns just to let you know, you have a free meal when they stopped, but nobody tells you nothing, so you need to go inside the place and show your ticket and then they tell you where you can eat. If you want to eat in the middle of the night just go around and ask. The bus was a good one, comfortable with a big seats, they also give you bottle of a water, snacks and coffee in the morning. You also have a toilet on the bus and tc and charger for mobile. But we arrived half and hour before which is not bad but have in mind that you can't do a lot of things in the morning there. Also the guy on the bus spoke a but of english wich was nice too.

This is my second journey using Thai Railways overnight Second Class AC sleeper. The train car is clean and comfortable. However, it gets so cold on the train car so pack extra layers. Don't forget your eye mask as well as they don't shut off the lights on account of of safety and security.

Nice train. Very clean. On time departure but a slightly late arrival. Our 3 year old daughter loved being on a train that turned into a bed! Would definitely do again.

The ride was good, train as expected. Although, the train was late for an hour and that caused us problems in reaching the next boarding point for our transfer to the islands in time, so I suggest to leave more than 2 hours for transfer in Bangkok if you are travelling further (also I think 12GoAsia shouldn’t recommend this connection as there is no enough time for transfer, as it looks the train is always late)
Other than that, whole trip was great!

I would advise to get a lower berth as top berth is too cold with the aircon. Take your own food and drink as its really expensive, you do get a small bottle of water for free. Also take an eye mask as thr lights don't get turned off. The train was clean, bed sheets and pillow nice and clean. Bed wasn't too bad at all.

Bus left 30min late. They provide a planket, small bottle of water and some sugary snacks on the way. Massasing chairs were nice and comfy. It is silly to make a food stop after 2 o'clock at night, because people are sleeping and it is unhealty to stuff your stomach at late hours. Ginger chicken with rice was cold, and the chicken hard to chew. Otherwise a smooth ride.
